Denise Carballo

Hey y’all, it’s me the face behind the Love! Recently, so much has happened with my company, here is a little update. Refurbished with Love has been going strong for the last nine years. I started off, in 2011, on the east coast in the little/big city of Hoboken, NJ. I built this business to show clients just how much I will and do care for their special pieces. Those old, outdated and sometimes “trash” furniture can all be saved. This year, in 2020, I returned to my hometown of Houston, TX. I was welcomed by the heat and humidity, amazing Tex-Mex, wonderful friends, family and clients. I still love to hunt for that perfect piece and since everything is bigger in Texas, that means my inventory is growing too! Thanks for stopping by!

A little more about me…

As owner of Refurbished with Love, I am lucky to combine my artistic passion with my love of furniture. If you go shopping with me, you will see I touch everything. For me, furniture should be pleasing to eye as well as to touch. I am determined to deliver a well thought out and beautiful product for all my clients. Growing up watching my architect father fix anything and everything at home sparked my interest in repairing the broken and making the ugly pretty. At an early age I figured out how to restore furniture for myself and friends, quickly turning a natural talent into a hobby that has over the years become not only a career, but a way of life.

As word spread about my sense of style in refurbishing and attention to detail so did the demand for more projects. I left the corporate world of public relations to use my gift to help others beautify their homes. My business quickly grew throughout the New York metro and Houston areas, and today I count several interior designers among the lucky clients who look forward to transforming an old furniture into something new and with that special LOVE from me. The best part of the process is watching my clients fall in love with their pieces again.

Back in 2015 RWL had the chance to be on HGTV’s show Flea Market Flip, season 7 episode 13, “Too Close To Call”. Being on the show was a fun and challenging time. Having three different pieces refurbished in 24 hours put seriously limitations on me and my need to do all necessary steps. In the end I lost by $2, the cost of a load of laundry in NYC, but the experience was great and something I will never forget.

These are the pieces we had to refurbish were: two chairs - taken from an old theater in Michigan, a coffee table made from an old fence trellis, and an end table made from an old wire basket.

An estate sale/garage sale, a piece of furniture on the side of the road, a super old home with hidden treasures and a good margarita!
